What leads us to read an article on the web or what prompts us to watch a video? Probably it is a Facebook suggest or it could have come from a Twitter feed. A nudge from a social media channel is an endorsement that the piece is worthy of our attention that our friends, colleagues et al want us to consume.

That is why asset properties are crucial because they contain a foreword to what is in the asset. They’re a prelude to what your prospects can expect by spending their time reading/viewing a content piece when they could very well be doing something else.

Paperflite lets you edit asset properties no matter where you host them – in Streams or Collections. Let us understand how this functionality works.

Step 1

Log in to the Paperflite app at https://www.paperflite.com. When you’re logged in, click on ‘My Collections’ on the left-hand menu bar. Choose the collection where you’re hosting the asset that you’d like to edit.

Step 2

When you’re inside the asset, click on the 3 dots in the bottom right corner and select ‘Edit’ on the top of the screen next to ‘+ Add to Collection.’

Step 3

When you click ‘Edit’, you’re prompted to edit a number of options. Let us look at each of these options.

Changing the Thumbnail of an Asset

The first option is to include a new thumbnail. Click on ‘Upload New Picture’ to change the thumbnail by choosing from your local drive o your computer.

Updating an Asset

Want to upload a new version of the asset? No problem. Just click on the option ‘Upload New Version.’ Choose the version that you’d like to upload from your computer. Note that changing the version in one Collection/Stream will not change it in any other Collection or Stream.

Where is this most useful?

Imagine you’ve sent a collection to your client or prospect, but later you want to update it with a new version of an asset. What you need to do is simply click on ‘Upload New Version,’ and choose the new asset from your local drive and that’s it!

Changing the Description

An asset description is as important as the asset itself. It can help you locate assets in Collections that host many assets. Update the description as you like it.

Adding Tags to an Asset

To add tags to an asset, enter the tag and hit enter to have the tag field updated.

Here's an article explaining this in detail.

Asset Access

Do you have a content asset that is for Internal Use only? No problem! You can choose to toggle OFF Share or Download any asset so that assets meant for 'internal use' do not get exposed externally. This helps maintain the confidentiality of a content piece.

This is what it would look like once it is set as an Internal Asset.

Notice how there is a 'Lock' icon displayed over the Asset Thumbnail? You have successfully set the Asset to Internal Use only.

Once you’re done with the updating process, click on ‘Update’ to keep the Collection relevant.

The same process holds even if your asset is in Streams. Click on ‘My Hub’ in the left-hand menu bar and choose the Stream where your asset is hosted. Once you locate your asset, you can edit it in the same process described above.

Custom Fields

You can define the categories for each of the assets which can be added/edited based on the nature of the asset. These categories will help in narrowing down the asset in the discovery tab and also help in associating the most possible attributes to the asset at any given point in time.

The custom fields and the number of choices (list values) for the custom fields can be defined from within the Settings tab. The choice of allowing them to multi-select or be selected as the only option can be done in the same section.
